The Finals at Sarnia have been canceled
It is with deep regret that the Silver Stick Committee for the Finals at Sarnia have had to make the difficult decision to cancel our attempt to run the Finals on February 25-27th.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are not able to put together an event worthy of the Silver Stick name, history and traditions.
The Tournament Committee have worked tirelessly to try to pull the event together for the players that worked so hard to get to the Finals and we did not come to this decision lightly.
Our members looked for solutions including removing certain divisions, using non-traditional locations and radical schedule modifications but in the end, there were too many factors working against us including ice availability, availability of qualified officials and most importantly the number of experienced volunteers we could secure. Given the list of obstacles (and I’ve only named the major ones) that could not be overcome, cancelling the event is the only logical conclusion.
I have been in contact with Event Connect and all deposits for accommodations will be refunded. As well, all tournament entry fees will be fully refunded.
The Finals Committee would like to thank all teams involved and we truly are sorry for the disappointment that you all feel. We share that disappointment as well.
