Jamboree Rules

Section One: General guidelines for the jamboree:

• The overall goal is to celebrate hockey and have fun!

• Each team will play 3 games

• All games will consist of 2, 22 minute periods with a 2 min break between periods

• Buzzer every 2 min for shift change.

 

Section Two: Teams

• Only players on your Approved OMHA Roster may participate and listed on your Tournament Roster sheet.

• Unregistered players may NOT be used for any reason.

• Each team will play with four (4) skaters and one (1) goalie on the ice.

• Game participant list must be filled out prior to each game and team official to sign off

 

Section Three: Rules of Play

• Each game will be two (2) twenty (22) minute periods with a 2 min break between periods. 

One (1) two (2) minute warmup before each game.  Two minute (2:00) shifts with a buzzer for shift changes.  All player changes will happen at the sound of the buzzer.  Bench doors MUST remain closed until the sound of the buzzer.  Once the buzzer sounds, players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice. Players must be within ten feet (10) of the players bench before new players off the bench can enter the playing surface to continue play. Time continues to run during shift changes. • The clock will stop for a major injury and both sides will stop play.

• Referees will drop the puck midway between the two (2) nets at the start of each game and during the game if the game is stopped for any reason.

• If a puck goes out of play the Referee will drop a new puck to the non – offending team.

• When play is stopped due to the goalie controlling the puck, a whistle will signal the attacking players to vacate the offensive zone and move to their half of the ice. Once all the attackers have exited the offensive zone, the players may re-enter to resume play immediately. They may not challenge the opposition until they have all exited the zone.

• When a goal is scored the Referee will blow his whistle to signal a goal. Scoring team will back off to let the team that was scored on retrieve the puck out of the net. Play resumes with team that was scored on going on the offense.

• For penalties, the Referee will put his arm up to signal a penalty call. If the offending team has the puck it is a change of possession as indicated by the Referee and the puck goes to the other team. At the buzzer the Referee tells the Coach what the penalty was and who got it. The offending player misses next shift however team still plays full strength.

• There is no center-ice (red) line, and therefore no icing calls or offside passes

• A team cannot pull their goalie to substitute an offensive player.

• No timeouts allowed in any game.

Section Four: Coaches, Managers

• Coaches are required to make every effort to ensure EQUAL ICE TIME for all participants and there is to be no shortening of the bench.

• Any bench personnel having been ejected from a game, for any reason, will be automatically suspended for a minimum of one (1) game and subject to further review for possible expulsion from the tournament by tournament officials. INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR, CONDUCT OR LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
