TOURNAMENT RULES

 

  1. Teams must be affiliated with O.H.F. to be eligible for entry into the tournament.

 

  1. OMHA or Alliance approved player rosters must be presented for each player, affiliate player and team officials participating in the tournament, one hour prior to game time.

 

  1. Any team failing to appear for a game as outlined on the official schedule shall be considered losers by a 3 to 0 score (Two byes in the same division may be ruled as cause for a change in schedule.). The Tournament Executive has the right to reschedule.

 

  1. Games shall consist of two ten-minute stop time periods and a final fifteen-minute stop time period.

 

  1. Affiliated players may play for one team only in this tournament.

 

  1. All protests or disputes must be submitted to the Director (or executive appointed for the day) no later than one hour following a game. The Director's (or officiating executive) disposition of said dispute will be final.

 

  1. Selection of teams, game times and necessary byes will be the product of a draw.

 

  1. No overtime played in preliminary round robin games.

 

  1. PENALTIES

The following Silver Stick rules apply for this tournament as well:

a) Any coach, manager and/or trainer who receive a game misconduct will automatically be suspended for the next tournament game.

b) FIGHTING – Automatic ejection for the duration of the tournament.

c) MATCH – Automatic ejection for the duration of the tournament.

d) TRAVESTY – Any player, coach, manager and/or trainer found to be making travesty of the game shall be expelled from further tournament play

e) ABUSE – Any player, coach, manager and/or trainer found to be abusive toward any tournament official shall be expelled from further participation.

 

  1. PRELIMINARY ROUND TIE BREAKERS

a)      Head-to-head record between tied teams (applies to 2 teams only; if more than 2 teams involved, GFA% applies)

b)      Team with best record (most wins counts first) gains higher position

c)      GFA percentage of all games played within the Round Robin or Qualifying Round.

d)      Lowest total penalty minutes incurred in Tournament within the Round Robin or Qualifying Round

e)      Team that scored first goal in game between two tied teams.

f)       Coin toss.

Tournament Director has final say on tie breakers – no verbal appeal or protests allowed.

 

  1. OVERTIME (semis and finals)

a)      All overtime periods are sudden victory.

b)      All overtime periods will be five-minute stop time.

c)      There will be a maximum of two sudden victory overtime periods. Each period will be played as follows:

1st overtime period – 4 players plus a goalie,

2nd overtime period – 3 players plus a goalie.

d)      In the event that no goal has been scored in the overtime periods, the winner will be determined by a 3-player shootout. Total number of goals scored determines the winner. If the game is still tied following the first three shooters, three new shooters for each team will shoot, and so on until a winner is declared.

e)      All penalties incurred will be served to the minimum of one player plus a goalie.

 

  1. There are no timeouts given in Round Robin, Semi-Finals or Finals.

 

REGISTRATION

 

  1. Each team may register a maximum of 25 players, however, only 19 may dress for each game. All teams and players must be registered with the O.M.H.A. or Alliance.

 

  1. No team or player may play in this tournament without presenting an approved O.M.H.A. or Alliance roster to tournament officials prior to game time.

 

  1. An entry fee of $1100.00 must accompany all entry forms. Please provide e-transfer to [email protected] or make cheque payable to Alvinston Silver Stick dated no later than November 18, 2023.

 

  1. Team roster sheets are to accompany entry form and fee with player names and numbers, as well as all coaching staff. This is to ensure that your team names are included in the Silver Stick Program booklet.

 

  1. Teams are considered to be registered when registration cheque or electronic transfer is cleared.
