BOB MERKLEY MEMORIAL REGIONAL SILVER STICK TOURNAMENT 2016
This is your invitation to attend the Annual Bob Merkley Memorial Regional Silver Stick Tournament in Midland, Ontario. It is sponsored by the Midland Minor Hockey Association. Silver Stick works under a Regional concept. Teams are expected to compete within their Region and your Association is within the Central Region which Midland has the privilege of hosting a Regional Tournament for Major “A” & “BB” teams within this Region.
Our dates this year for the BANTAM & MIDGET Divisions will be Friday, Nov. 25th, Saturday, Nov. 26th and Sunday, Nov 27th.
The dates for the NOVICE, ATOM & PEEWEE Divisions will be on Friday, Dec 2nd, Saturday, Dec 3rd and Sunday, Dec 4th.
All games will be played at the North Simcoe Sports & Recreation Centre, Len Self Blvd, Midland. This facility has 2 regulation ice surfaces the M.M.H.A. rink and Centennial rink, along with a pro shop.
There will be 12 teams accepted into each Division, three (3) groups of four (4) teams in each division. Each team is guaranteed three games, which will be in Round Robin Format. The top team in each of the three (3) groups will advance, along with the team that has the next highest point total from the remaining teams. There will then be two (2) semi-finals with the winners advancing to the finals on the Sunday of your respective weekend. Winners will receive Regional Silver Stick Championship Pins, Hats and Gold Medallions, with the runners-up receiving Silver Medallions.
Champions will advance to the International Finals at the following locations:
Novice – St Clair Shores, Michigan, Jan, 26th – 29th, 2017
Atom/ Midget – Sarnia, Ontario, Jan. 13th -15th, 2017
PeeWee/ Bantam – Port Huron, Michigan, Jan 19th – 22nd, 2017.
The entry fee will be $900.00 per team. All cheques to be made payable to the “Midland Silver Stick Committee”. There is no admission fee for spectators at anytime throughout the Tournament. Applications received, along with full payment, will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Deadline for accepting applications will be no later than October 30th, 2016. Please return the application form & tournament roster form along with your cheque payable to “Midland Silver Stick Committee” to the Tournament Registrar listed below. Your acceptance will be verified by email. If you cancel out after being accepted, there will be an administration fee of $75.00 deducted from your entry fee up until November 13th. Anytime after this date no refund will be given.
