Philosophy and History

The International Silver Stick Hockey Association has been promoting "Citizenship and International Goodwill" since its inception in 1956. Founded by Jack Kinsella, the tournament began with a simple exhibition game and has grown into one of the largest minor hockey tournaments in North America. Each year, over 65,000 players and coaches participate in 52 regional tournaments across the continent.

The association's guiding philosophy aims to develop good citizenship and foster international goodwill among participants. This ethos remains central to the tournament experience, ensuring that all players, regardless of outcome, gain valuable life lessons through their involvement in hockey.

Legacy and Impact

From its humble beginnings in Richmond, Ontario, to its current expansive presence across North America, the Silver Stick tournament has remained true to its original mission. Hosting regional and international finals, the tournament has created lasting memories for thousands of young hockey players and their families. The green Silver Stick blazer of founder Jack Kinsella hangs proudly in the Hockey Hall of Fame, a testament to the enduring legacy of the tournament.
