GENERAL:
1. OWHA rules shall apply.
2. OWHA approved rosters and any applicable releases are required for all participating
players/teams.
3. The home team will wear white/light sweaters and visiting teams will wear dark.
Exception: Teams with only one set of sweaters, please make the tournament director aware.
4. Intent to injure and fighting penalties will result in the player being expelled from the game and
possibly the remainder of the tournament. OWHA penalties and suspensions shall apply.

5. The tournament director reserves the right to make any and all final decisions per their discretion.

REGISTRATION:
1. All teams must register at least forty-five (45) minutes before their first game. Any outstanding
team rosters, fees or player pickup forms must be presented at this time.
2. All ‘pickup’ players must be declared and a copy of the OWHA Player Pickup Consent Form must
be provided to the Tournament Director prior to the team’s first game.
3. All bench staff participating in the tournament must be on an approved roster.
4. All teams must sign in for each game at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to their scheduled game
start time.

GAMES:
1. Teams must be at the arena and prepared to start the game fifteen (15) minutes prior to the
published scheduled start time.
2. Games may run longer than scheduled.
3. No games will have a scheduled start before 8:00 am. No games will have a scheduled start later than 10:00 pm.
4. All teams will be guaranteed 4 games.
5. Flooding of ice will occur at the end of each game.

FOREFIT:
If a team fails to appear for a game as scheduled that team shall be considered the loser of that game by
a score of 3 to 0. The Tournament Director retains the right to reschedule the game or any games as per their discretion.

PLAYING TIMES:
1. There will be a three (3) minute warm-up which will begin when Zamboni gate is closed.
2. All games will comprise of 3 stop time periods.
3. All regular round robin periods will be 10/10/12 with the exception of championship games.
4. Championship game period length will run as follows:
U11 - 10/12/12
U13 - 10/12/12
U15 - 12/12/15
U18 - 12/12/15

MERCY RULE:
When any team is ahead by five (5) or more goals in the third period the game will proceed under
‘straight time’ unless the gap is reduced to three (3) goals; at which point the clock will revert back to
‘stop time’.
The only time that the clock would be stopped is during ‘straight time’ if an on-ice injury should occur.

TIME OUTS:
There will be no time-out allotted in round-robin games. Teams will be permitted one thirty (30) second
time out during semi-final and championship games.

POINTS:

1. In the preliminary round, teams will be awarded points as follows: 2 points for a win, 1 point for
a tie, 0 points for a loss.

2. If there are multiple cross-over games then for the seeding the seeding will be solely based on points and will not be based on individual Pools. 
Example 1
st Place Pool A vs 2nd Place Pool B and 1st Place Pool B vs 2nd Place Pool A
will be changed to 1
st Seed vs 4th Seed and 2nd Seed vs 3rd Seed.
3. After round-robin play teams will be seeded based, in order, on the following:
a) Most points
b) Most wins
c) Best ratio of round-robin games (GFA): GFA = Goals For/Total Goals (Goals For + Goals Against)
(example: 25 goals for + 15 goals against = 40; GFA = 25/40 = 0.625)
d) Head-to-head record
e) Fewest goals allowed against

f) Lowest total penalty minutes incurred in the tournament within the Qualifying Round (Round

Robin)

g) Team that scored the first goal in a game between two tied teams
h) Coin toss

OVERTIME:
1. There will be no overtime in round-robin games (games may end in a tie).
2. In the event that an elimination game (qualifier, semi-final, championship) is tied at the end of
regulation time, the following shall apply:
a) Overtime: A 3 on 3 (3 skaters and 1 goalie) 5 minute stop time sudden victory period. Teams
will not change ends. If a penalty was in force at the end of regulation time, then it will carry
into overtime. If a penalty occurs during overtime, the non-offending team will add a skater
for the duration of the penalty.
b) 3 player shoot out: If overtime does not result in a winner, then a 3 player shoot out will
occur.
c) Single-player shoot out: Both teams shoot at the same time.  

If no winner after the first 3 shooters, then 3 new shooters will be selected and shoot in a sudden victory shoot out.   No shooter can shoot twice until all players on their team have shot.
