FAQ
What is your mailing address?
Our mailing address is Silver Stick Finals, PO Box 611244, Port Huron, MI 48061-1244
Do you have a Gate Fee?
We do not have a Gate Fee for any of the arenas that we use. Bring anyone and everyone!
Do teams still bring pins to trade?
Yes! Not all teams trade pins, but a large portion do! Teams typically trade pins before each round robin game, and at the Opening Ceremonies. We do not
organize
a pin trading event but lots of pins are traded and we often hear from teams that didn't know about pin trading, that they wished they did know.
Do I need to bring stickers for the Game Sheets?
No you do not. We print our game sheets for the Round Robin games before the tournament begins. Your Coach or Manager will need to make any adjustment as needed (i.e. AP's, Injuries, Suspensions) and sign each game sheet. In addition, we will be emailing each team contact a copy of their game sheets after the tournament has concluded. I was able to get them all emailed by the following Tuesday for all teams this year.
What hotel do I need to stay at?
You are allowed to stay at whatever hotel you and your team desire. We have no control over the hotels and which ones are better for your team. The list on the our
website
reflects a wide range of possibilities that you'll need to determine to suit your teams' needs. Hotels book up very quickly and we have implemented a hotel code that we will give to teams once they've won their regional. We've done this to attempt to deter teams from booking before they've won their regional. If you have any issues trying to find accommodations, please contact the
Chamber of Commerce
at 800-361-0526.
What is this year's Sanction Number?
For the 2021-22 Silver Stick Finals - Port Huron, it is
MIT2277455426
.
What rinks do I play out of?
The main facility and the host arena is the
McMorran Main Arena
.
Glacier Pointe
is another location and has two rinks at that location, the USA and Canada rinks. For overflow rinks, we use Suburban Ice Macomb
with two rinks at that location, Rink 1 and Rink 2. The Suburban Ice rinks are south of Port Huron and are about 30 minutes from Port Huron. Depending on your schedule, this may be a good option to find hotels in this area.
When is Opening Ceremonies and what do we do?
Opening Ceremonies is at the McMorran Main Arena on Friday evening. Specific times will be determined at a later time. Typically teams walk around the upper bowl of the arena and out on the ice to be recognized. There are few dignitaries that may speak as well, in addition to a few extras that change from year to year.
What is there to do in Port Huron?
First and foremost we are concerned with the tournament. However there is a little bit of down time depending on your teams' schedule. I think I'll just refer to the
Blue Water Area Convention
website and let each team decide what might be best suited for their team.
Where can we eat as a team?
Same answer here, refer to this
website
for restaurants. There are also a handful of restaurant sponsors and I would suggest those above any restaurant.
Will you be shooting any Video of the tournament?
For the 2021-22 tournament, we do not however, all rink have
LiveBarn
www.LiveBarn.com so you can watch the games from your PC or phone if you are unable to attend. Visit www.phhockey.com for a promo code if you do not already have an account with LiveBarn.
Will you be shooting any Photography of the tournament?
For the 2021-22 tournament, we do have a photographer that will be taking live action photos along with team pictures as well. Check out
http://www.allstarproductions.us/
for more details.
When will the schedule be available?
We usually have the schedule available on line before any Regionals take place. Then we just fill in spaces for those Regionals. As for the AAA Weekend, we usually have that completed by the end of November, or the beginning of December. This is primarily determined by all of the teams getting in the proper information into the Tournament Registrar.
Can we book practice ice?
Yes, please contact
Port Huron Minor Hockey
and they will be able to assist you. Please keep in mind that we will not have ice available from Thursday afternoon until Sunday.
What is the cancelation policy?
Any team that cancels 30 days prior to their tournament date will be refunded half of the entry fee. Less than 30 day cancellation, team will forfeit complete entry fee.
Glacier Point Canada?
The name of the sheets of ice at
Glacier
are "USA" and "Canada". For example some rink will call them rink 1 and rink 2. Here they are USA and Canada but both sheets are in USA under one roof.
