After 22 years of being involved with the International Silver Stick Finals @ Pelham I have the duty of announcing the cancellation of the Tournament for the year 2022.

After 22 years of being involved with the International Silver Stick Finals @ Pelham I have the duty of announcing the cancellation of the Tournament for the year 2022.
Currently, Covid19 has raised its ugly head again and has come back with a more virulent strain and as yet to be determined how serious it is. This latest surge has already hit close to home. We have On Ice Officials out on Covid19 Protocols. Also, and off-ice volunteer recently diagnosed and in quarantine. All 3 were fully vaccinated. This one has hit really close to home and is causing an increased level of anxiety amongst all.
Our Local Health Organizations have instituted addition levels of precautions to safeguard against transmission. These include reductions in the number of occupants allowed into commercial locations which include not only restaurants but arenas as well. We would not be able to host Opening Ceremonies or the annual Pin Trading. Changerooms would only be available 15 minutes prior and limited to 12 participants. After game you are allowed 15 minutes to clear the building.
Travel unless absolutely, necessary should be avoided. To compound this problem our Federal Government is whispering about changes in the admission process at the border and the US Government has recently added a testing component for returning citizens.
In the last week most of the major Minor Hockey Associations here in Ontario have “paused” on ice hockey activities. To be reviewed in a week. On December 27th they are going to tell us whether we can play or not. So, out of concern for everybody’s health and well being. the 2022 International Silver Stick Finals @ Pelham is hereby cancelled. We will skate again.
