Suspensions, 2016-17 Pelham Finals (International Silver Stick)

PrintSuspensions
Canadian Penalties are different from the U.S.
Some of our penalties are assessed differently than you are used to.

OHF_2016-17_Minimum_Suspension_List

Under Hockey Canada and OMHA Regulations our penalties are different in some instances and we would like to US Coaches to know what they are before we begin play.  Please see the attached list.

To put it in perspective we will use Checking From Behind as the example;

USA hockey awards a 2 minute penalty and a 10 minute misconduct for Check from Behind.  Here in Ontario the same call results in a 2 minute minor to be served by a player from the ice.  The offending player is ejected from the game and assessed a one game suspension so that player would not be eligible for the next game either.

You will find that all 5 Minute Major penalties result in ejection from the game and at least a one game suspension.

Special assessments for Silver Stick - any player receiving a Fighting penalty or any penalty with a GRM coding will be immediately ejected from the tournament.
