Aurora Community Centre
The Aurora Community Centre is Tournament Headquarters and where most of the games will be played over the weekend. This is a 2 pad facility that combines the old and traditional with the new and contemporary. The ACC1 is the original rink that was built in 1966 and is on the right as you face the front of the building. At 185 ft. by 85 ft. it is 15 ft. shorter than a standard NHL rink. It has narrow hallways and dressing rooms smaller than the size of most condominiums in Toronto. The players also get the experience of walking up stairs from their dressing rooms to get to rink level. The rink offers spectators many options for watching the game as there is seating and standing areas around the entire rink. The ACC1 also has a Tuck shop called the Hockey Lion where skate sharpening, sticks, tape, and minor equipment repairs can be done onsite. The ACC2 was built in 1995 and is on the left as you face the front of the building. It doesn’t have the charm and character of ACC1 but it is NHL standard size, does offer larger dressing rooms, wider hallways, and a snack bar. Spectators are limited to watching the game from the east side of the rink only where there is bench seating and standing room.
