The
Silver Stick’s primary goal to promote citizenship and international goodwill
between U.S. and Canada was on full display during the tournament. Exhibition
games were arranged for San Jose, Colorado, and Syracuse with the help of
neighbouring Associations (Markham Stouffville and Durham West).
The Markham Stouffville Bantam BB team organized a post game dinner with San Jose and Colorado had pizza delivered to the rink after the game with Durham West so the girls got the opportunity to socialize with each other. A big thank you to Dianne White (MSGHA President) for arranging the ice and referees and hosting the back to back exhibition games on Friday night.
Also, when the schedule was released and the Whitby Bantam BB team saw that they had games in the round robin against two U.S. teams (San Jose & Syracuse),Coach Adam Hagen co-ordinated a pin exchange amongst all teams that would meet in the Round Robin (including Nepean) and this took place prior to each game.
